RE-DISCOVERING EVANGELISM
with Tim Gonsalves of Alpha Canada

WORKSHOP A
Defining our Cultural Moment
Thursday, June 28 – 11am-12pm
Location: Louis Room
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: We live in a very different world than our grandparents. Somehow, Christianity is no longer at the center of society but has now moved to the fringe. As missionaries in this world, it’s our job to know the culture while maintaining strong ties to the kingdom. This session will take a deep dive into our cultural moment so that we can re-envision our approach to student relational ministry in a post-Christian world.

WORKSHOP B
Principles of Evangelism
Friday, June 29 – 11am-12pm
Location: Louis Room
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Evangelism is more than a curriculum but it’s an idea. We see evangelism as a holistic method in reaching those who don’t know Jesus with the good news that changes their whole life. The way in which we do this is through a variety of intentional steps that bring people into community for a journey towards discovery of Jesus.

WORKSHOP C
The Holy Spirit in Evangelism
Friday, June 29 – 1:30pm-2:30pm
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Great youth programs include fun, friendships and a bit of silliness, but our dream is for more than that. We want to see students encounter God in a personal way and experience his love and power. This session will be about how we can make spaces (that aren’t unnecessarily weird) for students to encounter the Holy Spirit, engage in prayer and be transformed by God’s love.

CRITICAL YOUTH ISSUES
with Sid Koop from Truth Matters

WORKSHOP A
Choosing Life – Addressing & Advocating for Youth Mental Health
Led by Mark Stromenberg
Thursday, June 28 – 11am-12pm
Location: Summit Room
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: How do I begin advocating and speaking about youth mental health issues? How do teach young people about mental health? How can I help share the love of Jesus to a teen struggling with depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? In this workshop, we will look at two things:
1) How do I help teenagers struggling with mental health issues?
2) How do I begin to speak about mental health, including public high schools?

WORKSHOP B
Friday, June 29 – 11am-12pm
Location: Summit Room
Purity is Possible: Caring for Our Kids in a Pornified Culture
Led by Sid Koop
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Our kids are living in a pornified culture. Many of our girls and boys have been exposed to porn by the age of 8 or 9 and almost all of them by the time they are finished adolescence. At times, it seems like we don’t even know how to fight it. That’s we have created our 7 session ‘Purity is Possible’ guide, to help you fight with and for your kids. This program is not simply about helping your students avoid porn, but more than that, helping them move towards Christ. By the end of our time together, you will have a practical tool, will help you see that purity is possible, and better yet: help your kids experience that reality for themselves.

WORKSHOP C
Friday, June 29 – 1:30pm-2:30pm
Location: Summit Room
Helping Our Kids Find Life in our Digital World
Led by Sid Koop
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Technology can be a great gift. The opportunity to build relationships around the world, keep in contact with friends, share stories and play games together. But sometimes our technology doesn’t help us grow as human beings–and sometimes, it hurts our growth. What can we learn from our kids engagement with technology about our deep longings as human beings, and how can we help them interact with their technology in a way that brings life?
